Admin password and two-factor authentication

The commissioning interface has a local user 'admin'. This user can log in to the SmartgridOne Controller on the local network, also when there is no internet connection. Access through the app, the portal or remote.eniris.be uses your SmartgridX account instead, so the admin password does not apply there, see User management.

Changing the admin password

Note
Note

The first time you log in locally with the default password, the SmartgridOne Controller asks you to choose a new password before you can continue. This is a security measure: the default password must not stay in use.

  1. Go to the 'Settings' tab of the commissioning interface and scroll to "Change password".
  2. Enter the old password, the new password and the new password once more.
  3. Click "Change password".

Warning

Keep the new password in a safe place. If the password is lost, the local login can only be restored with a factory reset, or through the portal by your distributor.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

With two-factor authentication enabled, logging in to the commissioning interface requires the password and a six-digit code from an authenticator app (for example Google Authenticator or another app that supports time-based one-time passwords).

Two-factor authentication is enabled per user account, for the account with which you are logged in when you enable it:

  • Enabled while logged in as 'admin', it protects the admin login on the local network. It does not apply to remote.eniris.be: the admin user cannot log in there, because remote access always uses your SmartgridX account.
  • Enabled while logged in with your SmartgridX account (locally, or through the app, the portal or remote.eniris.be), it applies to every login of that account on this SmartgridOne Controller, including the logins through remote.eniris.be.

Enabling 2FA

  1. Go to the 'Settings' tab of the commissioning interface and scroll to "Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)". The section shows whether 2FA is currently enabled or disabled for the account you are logged in with.
  2. Click "Enable 2FA".
  3. A page with a QR code appears. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. The entry in the app is named after the serial number of the SmartgridOne Controller.
  4. Click "Proceed". From now on, every login of this account asks for the verification code of the app after the password.

Warning

If you lose the authenticator app, you can no longer log in with this account. Add the SmartgridOne Controller to a second authenticator app or make a backup of the app before you close the QR code page.

Disabling 2FA

  1. In the section "Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)", click "Disable 2FA".
  2. Enter the current verification code of your authenticator app to confirm.
