Zetara Inverters
Zetara offers high-performance energy storage solutions, primarily featuring the Inspiration-T series. These devices are whitelabeled versions of the AlphaESS Smile series, providing robust hybrid inverter capabilities for residential and commercial energy management.
Supported Devices
The Zetara Inspiration-T is a hybrid system supporting both PV and Battery integration.
| Device Type | Variants | Modbus TCP (Ethernet) | RS485 | Curtailment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Inspiration-T | Inspiration-T Hybrid | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Note
The Zetara Inspiration-T uses the AlphaESS Smile communication protocol (V1.45). When configuring the device, it may be identified as an AlphaESS-compatible unit.
Communication Options
Ethernet (Modbus TCP)
The preferred method for connecting the Inspiration-T to the Controller.
- Default Port: 502
- Protocol: Modbus TCP
RS485 (Modbus RTU)
For installations where Ethernet is unavailable:
- Protocol: Modbus RTU
- Baud Rate: 9600 (default)
Wiring
Ethernet Connection
For correct ethernet wiring, follow the guidelines for ethernet wiring.
RS485 Connection
For models supporting RS485:
RS485 Wiring
- For correct RS485 wiring: Follow the guidelines for RS485 wiring.
- If the wiring shown in the table below is incorrect, please let us know.
- There is no general consensus in the industry about the usage of A and B for the RS485 polarity, so it may be counterintuitive and opposite of what you might expect for some devices.
| Device | SmartgridOne Controller model OM1 | SmartgridOne Controller model IG8 | RS485-USB converter | RS485-Ethernet converter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RS485 A | RS485 A | RS485_POS | RS485 A | TX+ |
| RS485 B | RS485 B | RS485_NEG | RS485 B | TX- |
| GND | RS GND | GND | Not available | G |
- Use shielded twisted pair (STP) cable.
- Maintain proper polarity (A to A, B to B).
Configuration & Commissioning
Critical Installation Requirements
Important
Grid Meter Requirement A compatible grid meter must be installed and correctly communicating with the Zetara inverter. If the grid meter is missing or offline, the device will not follow power setpoints (charge/discharge commands) from the Controller.
Caution
PV Input Detection During the initial device scan, a detectable voltage must be present on each PV input you wish to monitor. If a PV string is not producing voltage (e.g., during night-time or if disconnected), the driver will not add that specific module to the system tree.
Device Components
When scanned, the Inspiration-T will present as a composite device:
- Inverter: The primary management unit.
- PV Total: Aggregated data from all active strings (up to 6).
- Battery Input: Real-time data for SOC and battery power.
