RS485
RS485 Wiring
- For correct RS485 wiring: Follow the guidelines for RS485 wiring.
- If the wiring shown in the table below is incorrect, please let us know.
- There is no general consensus in the industry about the usage of A and B for the RS485 polarity, so it may be counterintuitive and opposite of what you might expect for some devices.

Configuration
After the electrical installation of a charger is complete, follow these steps to configure communication with the SmartgridOne Controller.
MaxiCharger DC Compact and DC Fast
Step 1 – Access the Local Service Portal
- On the charging station’s touchscreen, go to the Home screen.
- Double-tap the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Device Maintenance.
- Enter the password — the last six digits of the serial number found on the product label.
Step 2 – Set Modbus Parameters
- Tap Set Parameters.
- Wait for the system to load data.
- Configure communication settings as follows:
For Modbus TCP (Ethernet)
- OCPP IP: IP of the SmartgridOne Controller (e.g.
192.168.1.100) - OCPP PORT:
502 - MGR IP / URL / PORT: Optional management platform details
- Running environment: Select correct region (EU, UK, USA, etc.)
For Modbus RTU (RS485)
- Modbus Slave Address: Unique ID (1–247)
- Baud Rate:
9600 - Parity:
None - Data Bits:
8 - Stop Bits:
1
Step 3 – Save and Verify
- Tap Save. The system will restart with the new settings.
- Wait for about 1–2 minutes until boot completes.
- On the Home screen, check the Internet connection icon:
- ✅ Connected — icon shows a network link
- ❌ Disconnected — icon shows “x”; check cables or settings
MaxiCharger AC Ultra
Step 1 – Power On and Initial Setup
- Switch on the power to the charger.
- The charger will launch the setup wizard.
- Follow the on-screen steps:
- Select the language.
- Connect via Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, or Cellular.
- Set time zone.
- Set maximum input current to match grid capacity.
Step 2 – Access the Maintenance Menu
- On the Standby Screen, tap the currency ($) icon (bottom-left corner).
- The Cost Details screen will open.
- Double-tap the top-left corner to enter the maintenance menu.
- Tap Device Maintenance.
- Enter the last six digits of the charger’s serial number.
Step 3 – Configure Modbus TCP Settings
- Tap Set Parameters.
- Fill in the following fields:

Step 4 – Save and Verify
- Tap Save to confirm and restart the device.
- Once restarted, confirm the connection icon shows active network status.
