Connection
The communication between the SmartgridOne Controller and the Daikin heatpump operates via Relays. This guide follows the installation of the installer reference guide.
1. Preparation
Turn off the heat pump completely by disconnecting the power supply to the heat pump.
2. Opening the Switchbox
Follow the steps as described in section 7.2.4 - To open the indoor unit of the installers reference guide:
- Remove the MMI plate.
- Then remove the front plate.
3. Locating Terminal Block X5M
Locate terminal block X5M inside the unit. On this terminal block, you will find:
- Positions 9-10:
S10S
(12V) - Positions 5-6:
S11S
(12V)
4. Wiring to the Controller
For the connection between the SmartgridOne Controller and the Daikin Altherma heat pump wire with 0.5mm2 cross section is required. Wire the heat pump to the controller as follows:
Terminal X5M | Controller |
---|---|
9 | R1 NO |
10 | R1 COM |
5 | R2 NO |
6 | R2 COM |
5. Adding the Heat Pump to the Controller
In the controller interface, navigate to: Devices > Start device wizard > Heat Pump > Generic > Relays > Relay-controlled heat pump > My device is fully connected
Then enter the following data:
- An estimate of the maximum required power for the heat pump at that location.
Continue through the wizard to complete the setup.
You may modify the device settings afterward as desired, but the default values are sufficient in most cases.
6. Reconnecting the Heat Pump
Once the wiring is complete, you may power the heat pump back on.
7. Configuration via MMI
Using the heat pump's MMI, enter installer mode and set the following parameters:
Breadcrumb | Value | Name |
---|---|---|
9.8.4 | 3 = Smart Grid | Benefit kWh power supply |
9.8.5 | set as desired | Smart Grid operation mode |
9.8.6 | set as desired | Allow electrical heaters |
9.8.7 | set as desired | Enable room buffering |
9.8.8 | set as desired | Limit setting kW |
💡 Tip: To turn on the breadcrumbs press the (i) button on the MMI while on the homescreen.
After completing these steps, the heat pump will be properly connected, registered in the software, and configured for use via relay control.
